Masks, here we come!

Masks are awesome. They let you edit parts of the layer you want to see and what parts you don't!
Get a picture with colour. I chose a pizza (I was feeling hungry that day)
Save it and open it up in GIMP.
Duplicate the layer (Pizza in my case)
Make sure you are on the first/bottom layer!
Go colors>Desaturated>OK
Now right-click the top layer (It should now be selected)>Add Layer Mask>Black(Full transparency)>OK
Your color will disappear. DO NOT WORRY!
Make your pencil white and ensure you are on the little black thing next to the top layer.
Start moving the pencil about. It should start appearing in color. If you go over the edge switch to black and correct your mistakes.
